Nigeria’s leading telecommunications giant, Airtel Nigeria, has announced the appointment of C. Surendran as its new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer effective Monday, August 2nd, 2021.

In addition, Surendran will also be appointed to the Executive Committee (ExCo) as Regional Operating Director, reporting to the CEO of Airtel Africa plc, and the Board of Airtel Networks (Nigeria) Limited.

Surendran’s appointment means he will be replaceing Olusegun Ogunsanya who has been in the same role since October. 

Airtel’s new CEO, Surendran, has been with Bharti Airtel since 2003 and has contributed greatly in various roles across several business operations units of the company.

In his most recent role as CEO Karnataka, which is the largest circle in Airtel India with over $1billion in revenue, Surendran delivered an exceptional performance with up to 54% growth in Revenue Market Share (RMS) for the company over the last few years and has over 30 years of business experience, including 15 years at Xerox. 

Surendran is expected to transition into his new role from  June 1, 2021, and spend the time onboarding into the business until July 31, 2021.
