Mauritius founded private equity investment company, ShEquity, is calling on application to its recently launched startup accelerator program. The company which made the launch of the program known through its website is requesting applications from startups in Nigeria, Ghana, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Namibia, and Kenya fto join its SHEBA program. 

In the announcement made at the launch of the program, the company stated that it is ”proud to announce the launch of SHEBA in partnership with MBC Africa.”

According to it, “SHEBA will offer venture building and technical support to African female entrepreneurs with impactful and scalable businesses viewed as potential ShEquity investment candidates.Sector focus includes in agribusiness (agtech, production, processing, wholesale & retailing, any other agribusiness value chain aspects), healthcare, technology (fintech, clean-tech, etc.), renewable energies, and fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG).” 

The ShEquity Business Accelerator Program is expected to run for the duration of six month with intensive training for founders in business development, go-to market strategy, governance structure, branding and marketing and more. 

In the official press release document on its website, ShEquty stated that it sees the program as ”the next horizon in ShEquity’s significant investment and active role in building an investment ecosystem for African women entrepreneurs. Accordingly, SHEBA will serve as the pipeline for the ShEquity West Africa VC Fund which is being set up in Accra, Ghana. Every year, SHEBA will select and support 30 women…”

ShEquity, whose accelerator program’s expected deadline is April 16 says that to apply, Interested applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Be a woman leading / owning an impactful and scalable business.
  • Be ready to commit to the 6 months program duration.
  • Have a business that has been in operation for a minimum of 24 months and is based in the ECOWAS Region.
  • Agree to sign the SHEBA agreement (to be provided to these selected).
